Marie Lumsden-Keys was born in Dunedin, New Zealand and became interested in drawing and colour from a very early age. Studied art at high school and Prahran College and did small water colour and drawing classes. After many years as a Pre-School Mothercraft nurse, Marie brought up 5 children and sang with many Acappella groups and bands. At 52 she decided to take up Acrylic Painting and felt inspired to paint in her own studio. Marie became inspired by Jim Crofts in Box Hill, who she visited everyday after one of her first jobs at 19 years of age. Steve Morvell, a wildlife artist, also inspired Marie before she had children. After sending her 5 children to the Little Yarra Steiner School in Yarra Junction, Marie became interested in Mother Earth concepts and pays tribute to Mother Earths beauty and Galactic home. Marie spends many hours in her studio in East Warburton, where she finds peace and tranquility with her paints and canvases. "I love the pure colour vibrations of the primarys, metallics and fluorescents. It reminds me of harmony rubs in Acapella music as it always affects people."Marie believes that life on canvas comes from intuition of the soul.
